About Me

I have always been interested in history, and at a few different times I tried to do a family tree, but wasn’t able to do it with the technology that was available then. On a business trip I visited the World War I Museum in Kansas City, MO and it was a very impressive establishment. While I was there I remember thinking, “Didn’t my great-grandfather fight in World War I? And wasn’t his brother killed alongside him in some famous battle? I wonder if I can find out where he died.” That’s what started it all.  I can be reached at charles dot thomas at wisc dot edu (with the appropriate replacements made).

I have a Krueger family book, they came from Prussia Germany. But I am unable to find any names you have listed on your site. The oldest Krueger I have in my tree is my fifth great grandfather his name was
Johann Krueger born 1775 in Niederhagen, Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany I see the map you posted, and a similar map is in my family book so what I am saying is, I think we are related, possibly…

Reading your family’s tory, I was surprised to see the photo of Philomene Cottenoire who is the eldest child of François Olivier Cotnoir born on december 1, 1810 in Maskinonge Qc Canada and Marguerite Gauguet. Philomene is the sister of Louis Treffle Cottenoir (you see that the names are not spelled the same way but they are brother and sister) Louis Treffle Cottenoir was the brother of my great-grand father Joseph Hildege Cotnoir and all those information are available on our family tree website : http://www.classicalacarte.net/Genealogie2013/Cotnoir120313/main.htm Jute click on letter C and you will find a list of family name and click on Cotnoir François -Olivier.
I’d like to know if you give me the permission to import Philomene’s phot to our website http://www.famillecotnoirfamily.ca

Wow, your research is amazing! My 2nd great grandmother was Ernestine W. Schulz born Pommern Germany 1869. I was curious if she was related to your Schulz clan. I can’t find any info about her parents. I believe she came to America in 1892 with her brother Carl.

I am not sure how I came upon your page, but I am wondering if you could tell me a few things about a few of the towns you have listed in your tree. I have learned today that my Hafemann line originated or lived in or near a place called Leoshof, Prussia. I would like to know what this place is today, or if it no longer exists. I have found Muddelmow is now Modlimowo, I have also found Piepenburg is now Wyszogora. I can not find Heidebreck, Karant, or this Leoshof. – I have visited Poland about 6 yrs. ago and have a very large modern map, and this is where I have found the two towns that I have. I am so hopeful that you can help.
Church records have other Hafemann’s baptized in Muddelmow & Heidebreck.

    Duff Family Crieff
Looking for descendants of the Duff Family & hoping we maybe connected in some way.
My Great Grandmother Ann Duff born 1874 & married my Great Grandfather James Lindsay. They had one child a son John Lindsay (my Grandfather) & migrated to Australia on the ship “Benalla” in 1913. I have a beautiful leather bound photo album belonging to Ann Duff, which was given to her on 1st January 1894, from a Mr Thomas Buchanan. Thomas Buchanan was Ann Duff’s brother in law who married Ann’s sister Elizabeth Drummond Duff. Ann also had a twin sister Sarah Duff & several other siblings. The album contains 36 professional photos that unfortunately aren’t named & I presume they would be of the Duff Family many are in Scottish Kilts & some are family portraits & some are of children. There is one of a man in full Scottish military uniform. Any help to try & put a name to these faces or to find some relative who may know who they are will be greatly appreciated.
I’m happy to email you the photos if you think there is some connection to your Duff lineage.

    Thank You

Sir/Madame: I am researching the visual records of Fairbanks and Duff families in Nova Scotia, and in particular Jane E Fairbanks between 1845-1850 for the local museum. How might I best get in contact with you?
