Thum/Thym/Tym/Tonn Family Records from Usch, Kreis Kolmar, Posen, Prussia

Węglewo (Kahlstadt). Marriage of Anton Thon with the widow Marianna Sztabowa (likely a married name based on the record below) on 8 Dec 1783. Witnesses were Matthias Guzik Schulteto (might be a title, Schulze) and Petro (Peter) Zye of this town.

Węglewo (Kahlstadt). Baptism of Marianna Thon, daughter of Anton Thon and his wife Marianna (Pawalowna), born 20 Mar 1764 and baptized 25 Mar 1764. Godparents: Joannis Mauriewski and Marianna Petasiewska, from Usch.

Węglewo (Kahlstadt).  Baptism of Marianna Tonn, daughter of Martin Tonn and Marianne Pawalowna (Pawel, Pawelski), born 30 Dec 1765 and baptized 2 Jan 1766.  Godparents: Jacob Westmi and Iva Rosina Hedowa (Hadow) from this town.

Węglewo (Kahlstadt).  Baptism by Johannes Rogozimbar (other text here?  infirmata ima jablonowo) of Martin Tonn, son of Anton Tonn and Marianne Pawalowna (Pawel, Pawelski), born 20 Dec 1765 and baptized 27 Jan 1766.  Godparents:  Michael Regenka and Iva Rosina Cepikowan.

Note: It may be related or not to note that Gottlieb Tonn married Justine Zierke (of the Princeton, Wisconsin Zierke Family) in Margonin (Margonin 22/1851).  She was born in 1829.  His burial record gives “Kaliska, Posen” as his birth place, which could be a mis-spelling of Kahlstadt.  Gottlieb settled in Marquette County, just as my Zierke family did.

About cthomas1967

Seeking to bring my ancestors out of the shadows of history and into the light. I have always been interested in history, and at a few different times I tried to do a family tree, but wasn't able to do it with the technology that was available then. On a business trip I visited the World War I Museum in Kansas City, MO and it was a very impressive establishment. While I was there I remember thinking, "Didn't my great-grandfather father fight in World War I? And wasn't his brother killed alongside him in some famous battle? I wonder if I can find out where he died." That's what started it all. View all posts by cthomas1967
